Crochet Mega Rose Path – Step by Step

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn in various shades of red or pink
  • 5.5mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch markers (optional)
  • Stuffing

Instructions:

Petals:

  1. Make a magic ring.
  2. Chain 3, work 2 double crochets (dc) in the ring, chain 2, work 2 dc in the ring. Chain 1, turn your work.
  3. Work 2 dc in the first chain space, chain 2, work 2 dc in the next chain space. Chain 1, turn your work.
  4. Continue increasing in this manner, working 2 dc in each chain space and turning your work after each round, until you have 16 dc stitches.
  5. Work one round of dc around, without increasing. Do not turn your work at the end of this round.
  6. Place a stitch marker in the next stitch. Skip the next stitch, then work 2 dc in the following stitch. Repeat this skipping one stitch and working 2 dc in the next stitch all the way around the petal. Place a stitch marker at the end of the round.
  7. Work one round of dc around, working into both loops of each stitch. Do not turn your work at the end of this round.
  8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 three more times, for a total of five rounds of dc with increases and five rounds of dc without increases.
  9. Tie off and weave in ends. Make 15 more petals in the same way.

Assembling the rose:

  1. Sew the petals together around the base, in a spiral, overlapping the edges slightly. Stuff the rose as you go to give it shape.
  2. Once all the petals are attached, sew up the remaining hole at the top of the rose.
  3. Add leaves and a stem, if desired.

Tips:

  • You can use different shades of red or pink yarn to create a more realistic-looking rose.
  • If you are using variegated yarn, be sure to change colors at the end of each round to avoid having stripes in your petals.
  • You can make the rose any size you like by adjusting the number of petals and the size of your crochet hook.
  • For a more ruffled look, you can chain 2 or 3 between the dc stitches in the rounds without increases.

Here are some additional tips for crocheting a mega rose:

  • Use a larger crochet hook than you would normally use for worsted weight yarn. This will help to create a looser fabric that will drape nicely.
  • Be careful not to stuff the rose too tightly. You want it to be soft and cuddly, not hard and lumpy.
  • If you are having trouble sewing the petals together, you can use hot glue instead. Just be careful not to burn yourself!

With a little practice, you will be able to crochet a beautiful mega rose that will be sure to impress your friends and family.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.
