CROCHET HEART BORDER

Add a touch of sweetness to your blankets, scarves, or amigurumi with this adorable crochet heart border! This pattern is perfect for beginners and experienced crocheters alike, offering a simple yet charming way to embellish your projects.

Materials:

  • Yarn in your desired color (weight depends on your project)
  • Crochet hook appropriate for your yarn weight
  • Tapestry needle (optional, for weaving in ends)

Skill Level: Beginner

Gauge: Gauge is not crucial for this border, as it is meant to be adaptable. However, for best results, try to match the gauge of your main project.

Instructions:

1. Starting the Chain:

Attach your yarn to the edge of your project using a slip knot. Chain 3 as a turning chain.

2. Shaping the First Heart:

  • Base: Single crochet into the next stitch of your project. Chain 2.
  • Left Side: 2 single crochets, 2 double crochets, 3 treble crochets, 2 double crochets, 2 single crochets, all in the same space (chain 2 counts as a stitch).
  • Top Point: Chain 2, slip stitch into the top of the first treble crochet made in the previous step.
  • Right Side: Work in reverse of the left side: 2 single crochets, 2 double crochets, 3 treble crochets, 2 double crochets, 2 single crochets, all in the same space.
  • Joining: Slip stitch into the top of the first single crochet made in the base.

3. Completing the Border:

Chain 3 (or more, depending on the desired spacing between hearts). Repeat steps 2a-2f to create kolejne hjertes. You can adjust the spacing between hearts by chaining more or fewer stitches after each one.

4. Finishing Touches:

Once you reach the end of your project, tie off your yarn and weave in any loose ends.

Tips:

  • Experiment with different yarn weights and colors to create unique borders.
  • You can add a picot stitch to the top of each heart for an extra touch of detail.
  • For a neater finish, work your slip stitches into the back loops of the stitches.
  • This border can be adapted to fit curved edges by working the hearts at an angle.
