How to CROCHET SQUARE SO EASY TO MAKE

Here’s a super easy way to crochet a simple square, great for beginners — often called a granny square. You just need basic stitches: chain (ch), double crochet (dc), and slip stitch (sl st).

🧶 Materials:

  • Yarn (medium weight is good for beginners)
  • Crochet hook (check the yarn label, usually 5mm/US H-8)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle (for weaving in ends)

🧵 Easy Granny Square Pattern:

Round 1:

  1. Make a slip knot, then ch 4.
  2. Join with a sl st to the first ch to form a ring.
  3. Ch 3 (counts as your first dc).
  4. Work 2 dc into the ring, then ch 2.
  5. Repeat [3 dc, ch 2] three more times.
  6. You should now have 4 sets of 3 dc and 4 ch-2 spaces.
  7. Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3.

    • [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc]
  4. Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3.

Round 3 (and more):

  1. Start in the next corner again with sl st, then repeat the corner pattern:
[3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in each corner
And in between corners, in any side spaces:
    [3 dc] in each space.
  2. Keep growing your square as big as you like by adding more rounds.

✅ Tips:

  • Keep your tension even for neat edges.
  • Use a stitch marker to mark the start if you lose track.
