Here’s a super easy way to crochet a simple square, great for beginners — often called a granny square. You just need basic stitches: chain (ch), double crochet (dc), and slip stitch (sl st).

🧶 Materials:
- Yarn (medium weight is good for beginners)
- Crochet hook (check the yarn label, usually 5mm/US H-8)
- Scissors
- Yarn needle (for weaving in ends)
🧵 Easy Granny Square Pattern:
Round 1:
- Make a slip knot, then ch 4.
- Join with a sl st to the first ch to form a ring.
- Ch 3 (counts as your first dc).
- Work 2 dc into the ring, then ch 2.
- Repeat [3 dc, ch 2] three more times.
- You should now have 4 sets of 3 dc and 4 ch-2 spaces.
- Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3.

Round 2:
- Sl st to the next ch-2 corner space.
- Ch 3, then 2 dc into the corner, ch 2, 3 dc into the same corner (first corner made).
- In the next 3 ch-2 spaces, do the same:
- [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc]
- Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3.

Round 3 (and more):
- Start in the next corner again with sl st, then repeat the corner pattern:
[3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in each corner
And in between corners, in any side spaces:
[3 dc] in each space. - Keep growing your square as big as you like by adding more rounds.

✅ Tips:
- Keep your tension even for neat edges.
- Use a stitch marker to mark the start if you lose track.
- Change yarn colors between rounds to make it fun and colorful!
