Materials:

  • 400 yards of DK weight yarn in your chosen color
  • 4.0mm (US G-6) crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch markers (optional)

Gauge:

18 sts and 9 rows in dc = 4” x 4”

Finished Size:

Chest: 18″ Length: 12″

Instructions:

Yoke:

  1. Chain 78 (or any multiple of 4 + 2).
  2. Dc in the 3rd chain from the hook, dc in each chain across. Turn. (76 sts)
  3. Ch 2, dc in each dc across. Turn.
  4. Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the yoke measures 6.5″ from the starting chain.

Skirt:

  1. Ch 1, sl st in the first dc. Ch 2, dc in the next dc. Skip 1 dc, dc in the next dc. Repeat from * to * across, ending with a dc in the last dc. Turn. (76 sts)
  2. Ch 2, dc in each dc across. Turn.
  3. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until the skirt measures 5.5″ from the yoke.

Armholes:

  1. (Make 2 armholes) Skp the first 13 sts, dc in the next 26 sts. Place a marker. Skip the next 13 sts, dc in the last 26 sts. Turn. (40 sts)
  2. Ch 2, dc in each dc across. Turn.
  3. Repeat row 2 until the armholes measure 1.5″ from the beginning of the armholes.

Body:

  1. Join the two sides of the body at the shoulders with sl st. Dc in each dc around the entire neckline, joining with sl st to the first dc. Turn. (80 sts)
  2. Ch 2, dc in each dc across. Turn.
  3. Repeat row 2 until the body measures 4″ from the neckline.

Finishing:

  1. Ch 1, sl st in each dc across. Tie off, weave in ends.

Optional embellishments:

  • Add a ribbon or bow around the waist.
  • Crochet ruffles or flowers to add trim.
  • Personalize the dress with a monogram or appliqué.
